Magical Adventure. My week with Chef David and Chef Mary Ann was magical. From the beautiful setting at Villa Valentina to the approachable cooking demonstrations, the week was more than anticipated. Daily excursions to learn about and taste wines and foods from various regions added to the adventure. I am grateful for the many laughs with new friends and the surprises Chef David had for us along the way, surely a trip I won’t soon forget!

The entire trip from beginning to end was simply amazing!  The Villa Valentina was everything one would expect when traveling to Italy to stay in a Tuscan Villa.  The food was incredible and the cooking lessons invaluable.   The daily excursions were wonderful, highlighted by the new friends we made at the Villa.  But we must say, one of the most rewarding parts of the trip has been returning home and actually being able to recreate everything Chef David artfully prepared and taut us to make in Italy!

He is one amazing person and chef to work with! His vibe and passion for cooking is beyond words! My husband and I had THE MOST AMAZING time staying at Villa Valentina for a week.  Chef and owner David Verzello is a culinary and social delight!  I don't even enjoy cooking and he made the cooking classes great fun!  His meals were astounding, although amazingly we never gained an ounce there!  The property is also gorgeous - all of the bedrooms are special, the outdoor jacuzzi is one of a kind, and there is even a steam and sauna.  Just talking about it makes me want to go back right now!

We experienced the ultimate Italian culinary experience with David this past summer when visiting Villa Valentina in Lucca.  Not only did he create delectable Italian dishes indigenous to the region, but his charming personality lured even the most hesitant of participants into becoming “chefs” for the evening.  When there was a small electrical glitch that left the kitchen without power, he turned it into an enchanting evening of making gnocchi by candlelight…one of our fondest memories of the trip.  His culinary skills know no bounds and his friendly and open personality make him someone you want to be around and cook with all the time.  He won my heart and palette in Italy after making the most exquisite rabbit dish one night and the next morning taking the kids to collect eggs in the chicken coop to whip up the most divine French toast I’ve ever experienced.  I loved David so much I flew him across the country to my home to do a cooking lesson for my 12 year-old-daughter’s birthday where he seamlessly guided 17 girls through the process of making homemade pasta, meatballs, tiramisu, and three different delicious sauces…all the while teaching, dancing and laughing alongside of them.  I wish I could come home every day to a delicious meal cooked by David and conversation and a glass of wine with him at my kitchen island…neither of them will ever disappoint.

My introduction to Chef David Verzello began when I was planning a birthday luncheon for a dear friend. Our initial meeting revealed his creativity, knowledge, talent, and uniqueness.  My background is in Hospitality; hotels, restaurants, conventions, banquets, and catering.  I had particular requirements, requests, and expectations.  I was impressed with Chef David’s willingness to incorporate my ideas and offer suggestions that enhanced my desires rather than expecting me to agree to his interpretation of my event.  The follow through, and fulfillment of all discussed and agreed upon was exemplary.

During that beautiful luncheon, I experienced a seismic shift now knowing that my expectations when entertaining at home are possible.

Since that day, with Chef David at the helm, I am able to relax and enjoy my parties.  I know the beauty of each course will bring exclamations of delight from my guests as they admire his artistic presentations, only to be followed by their sensory overload as each experiences their first bite.  Delicious falls short as a descriptor.
